Placebo sweet spot for pain relief identified in brain

In a first, Scientists have identified for brain region responsible for the 'Placebo effect' in pain relief.Scientists found that the mid frontal gyrus area in brain identifies placebo, a harmless pill made up of inert substances like sugar or starch, which results in substantial reduction of pain. This could aid desigining of personalised medicine for chronic pain.

World Bank appoints kristalina Georgieva as CEO

Kristalina Georgieva, a former head of EU humanitarian affairs and vice-president of European commision, was on friday appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the World Bank. Georgieve will report to the bank's president, Jim Yong Kim, who has been reappointed for another five-year term. Notably, Gerogieva will begin her appointment by January 2017.

Google's AI created its own form of encryption



                             Researchers from the google Brain  deep learning projects have reportedly created AI- generated, human independent encryption. They allowed three neural to pass each other notes using encryption method they created themselves without human intervention. After about 15,000 attempts, one network send another a coded message which the third network cannot decode.

Ratan Tata looking for a buyer for Mistry's stake: Report



                                 Tata Sons Interim Chairman Ratan Tata is reportedly looking for a partner who could buy the company's stake held by ousted Chairman Cyrus Mistry and his family. The Tatas are said to have approached sovereign wealth funds and a few other long-term investors regarding the same. Mistry's family holds about 18% of Tata sonds stake.

World Bank appoints 1st advisor to curb LGBTI discrimination


                                The World Bank has appointed Clifton Cortez as its first advisor tasked with promoting the lesbian,gay,bisexual,transgender and intersex (LGBTI) issues in the bank's development work. The newly created senior position is part of the bank's commitment to researching and curbing discrimination against LGBTI persons across the 136 countries where it operates.

Rio ant-doping programme success despite problems:IOC


                                   The International Olympic Committee on Friday said the Rio Olympics anti-doping programme was successful, despite lack of trained staff and inadequate testing. The 55-page WADA international observers'reported had noted there were "serious failings" in the process. However, the report added "the integrity of the programme was ensured despite challenges the organising committee  had to overcome

Google parent Alphabet's profit climbs 27% in Sept quarter



                                          Google's parent company Alphabet on Thursday announced that its net income had risen 27% to $5.06 billion in the third-quarter compared to the year-ago period. Alphabet's revenue jumped 20% to $22.45 billion, marking the search giant's seventh straight quarter of double-digit revenue growth. The company credited strong advertising on mobile devices and video site  Youtube for the positive Results.

American business magnate and world's richest man Bill Gates is a recipient of McDonald's lifetime Gold Card, that lets him eat at the fast-food chain worldwide for free.
       Microsoft Founder reportedly has cheeseburgers for lunch, and his hotel rooms are full of Diet cokes. Interestingly, Gates' foundation had liquidated its share in McDonald's recently, selling all shares it held.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezon loses $3 billion in an hour



                                           E-commerce major Amazon's Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos's net worth dropped by $3.2 billion in an hour after amazon missed its expected earnings for the third quarter. Bezos, however, has maintained his position as the third richest person in the world,preceded by Zara's Founder Amancio Ortega and Microsoft's Co-founder Bill Gates.

Thierry Henry trains kids during trip to India








                          Ex-Arsenal and Barcelona forward Thierry Henry trained kids from Arsenal Soccer School and Reliance Foundation Young Champs at NSCI stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday. Praising Indian football, Henry said, " India has amazing football talent  at the grass root level that needs to be nurtered and given a chance to grow." Henry also played a five-a-side football match at the event.

LinkedIn revenue rises 23% as Microsoft deal nears close

                    Social networking major LinkedIn on Thursday posted a 23%  year-on-year rise in total revenue to $960 million in the quarter ended September. This comes amid LinkedIn being in the process of getting acquired by tech major Microsoft in a deal worth $26.2 billion. Further, the company's cumulative members grew 18% to 467 million during the period under review.

Tata Housing, Macquarie to invest Rs.2k cr in realty projects




Reality firm Tata Housing Development and Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA), a part of australia's Macquarie Group, have agreed to jointly invest around 2,000 crore to develop high-end residential projects, reports said. Macquarie and Tata Housing have entered into a 70:30  partnership, where MIRA will put in 1,400 crore and the remaining 600 crore will come from Tata Housing.

Twitter to cut 9% of workforce to become profitable in 2017
